Asamyuta hastas are the gestures made with one hand. The Abhinaya Darpana lists twenty-eight, beginning with Pataka and ending with Trishula, and students learn them by reciting the shloka that names them in order. Each hand can carry many meanings depending on how it is placed and moved.
