Dr. Abheesh Sasidharan is a performance practitioner, researcher, designer, director, and dramaturge from India, primarily focusing on contemporary performance and theatre rather than Indian classical dance. He is an alumnus of the Freie Universität Berlin, University of Hyderabad, National School of Drama, New Delhi, and the School of Drama and Fine Arts, Thrissur (University of Calicut), where he earned a Bachelor of Theatre Arts. His doctoral research at the University of Hyderabad focused on contemporary performance design. Sasidharan has been actively involved in theatre for over 13 years, working as a designer, director, dramaturge, and researcher. He worked under eminent theatre master Prof. S. Ramanujam. Since 2004, he has been engaged in community work with his group, Theatre Hut, collaborating with elderly persons, mothers, and children in his village as a part of community engagement. His artistic works often explore unique personal experiences, particularly from waterscapes, and he is interested in working with marginalized individuals and communities. His major artistic productions include "Meenachil R," "Fraction," "The Caucasian Chalk Circle," "drops," "Pattangal," "Floating Bodies," "marks," "Bhranthu: A Mediated Performance," "IoE: Inheritors of the Earth," "Prethabhashanam," and "ZERO ONE: An Interactive Performance Project." He conceptualized "Floating Bodies," inspired by photographs of Rohingyan refugees. Sasidharan also hosts a multilingual podcast titled "Techno Gypsie," which discusses contemporary performance practices. He has published articles in Malayalam, Hindi, and English and has presented papers at numerous national and international conferences and participated in various festivals and workshops. He has directed theatre camps, such as one at Beypore Kala Gramam in Kozhikode, where he worked with homemakers to stage a production based on Basheer's female characters.
