🪔 About
Aditi Bhagwat is an internationally renowned Indian classical dancer, choreographer, and educator, primarily recognized for her expertise in Kathak and Lavani, with significant training in Odissi. Born on January 18, 1981, in Maharashtra, India, her musical journey began early, inspired by her mother, Ragini Bhagwat, a classical singer. Aditi commenced her Kathak training in the Jaipur style at the age of four, under the tutelage of Roshan Kumari and Nandita Puri. She further honed her skills in rhythm and complexities of taal under tabla maestro Pandit Kalinath Mishra. Her training in Odissi was guided by danseuse Jhelum Paranjape, which contributed to her recognized grace in Abhinaya (expressions) and Adda (posture). Bhagwat holds a Master's degree in dance (Nritya Alankar) from Gandharva Mahavidyalaya and also a Master's in Psychology. She is an A-graded artist of Doordarshan Kendra and is empanelled with the Indian Council of Cultural Relations (ICCR). Throughout her career, Aditi has extensively experimented with blending traditional Indian classical dance and music with genres like Jazz and other Western music, collaborating with artists such as Louiz Banks, Sivamani, Merlin D'Souza, Rod Williams, and Bela Szakcsi Lakatos. She has performed globally in countries including the USA, Australia, London, France, Spain, Germany, Portugal, Poland, New Zealand, and Hungary. Aditi Bhagwat also operates the Aditi Dance Academy in Mumbai, where she trains students in Kathak, Lavani, and other folk dance forms.
