Ameera Patankar is a prominent Kathak danseuse from Pune, India, known for her versatile dancing and enigmatic stage presence. Born on January 16, 1988, she began her Kathak training at the age of eight, enrolling in Guru Shama Bhate's dance institute, Nadroop, in Pune. Although she initially pursued academics, earning a bachelor's degree in economics and studying French, her passion for dance led her to pursue it professionally. Patankar completed her Master's degree in Kathak from Savitribai Phule Pune University's Centre for Performing Arts (Lalit Kala Kendra), graduating with a gold medal in 2012. She is a recipient of a national scholarship from the Ministry of Culture. Following her graduation, she joined Nadroop as a full-time teacher in 2012, and as of 2020, she holds the position of senior-most dancer at the institute, after Guru Shama Bhate. Throughout her career, Ameera Patankar has performed widely across India and internationally, both as a solo artist and as a leading dancer of the Nadroop troupe. She is also an aspiring choreographer, with notable works including a piece based on 'Mirror, mirror on the wall' for the Madame Menaka Choreography Movement, 'Kavi Kalam aur Hum' performed in 2020, and 'Yugnayak Vivekananda' for the Ramakrishna Math, which was performed at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. She teaches Kathak to children and assists Guru Shama Bhate in instructing bachelor's and master's degree students. Patankar also manages events for Nadroop, organizing lecture demonstrations and national-level seminars. She is the founder of the Sukruti Kathak Dance Academy in Pune.
