Dr. Ananda Balayogi Bhavanani is a distinguished figure in Indian classical arts and yoga, born in Pondicherry, India. He is the son of Yogamaharishi Dr. Swami Gitananda Giri Guru Maharaj and Yogamani Kalaimamani Yogacharini Meenakshi Devi Bhavanani, a renowned Yogini and Bharatanatyam artist. Dr. Bhavanani was a performer of Bharatanatyam, notably participating in the ABHAI National Dance Festival in 1992. Following his father's Maha Samadhi on December 29, 1993, he shifted his focus from performing to dance choreography. He has since contributed to choreographing six major and twelve mini dance dramas for Yoganjali Natyalayam. He is the Chairman of Yoganjali Natyalayam, a prominent institute in Pondicherry established in 1993, which specializes in Yoga, Bharatanatyam, and Carnatic Music. Beyond dance, Dr. Bhavanani is also recognized as a classical Indian vocalist, percussionist, and music composer. He is also the Chairman of the International Centre for Yoga Education and Research (ICYER) at Ananda Ashram, Pondicherry. He holds a DSc in Yoga and is widely acknowledged for his extensive work in yoga therapy and research, having authored numerous books and scientific papers. He is referred to as Kalaimamani, a prestigious state award for arts. Awards & Honours: Kalaimamani, Shri Marudha Ramalinganar OUTSTANDING YOUNG PERSON AWARD and Rolling Shield (2002).
