Antonia Volodina is a Bharatanatyam dancer, choreographer, and teacher based in Mechelen, Belgium. She has dedicated herself to Bharatanatyam for many years, a classical South Indian dance style that shapes her artistic and professional life. Volodina began her training in Bharatanatyam at the age of five, learning from various gurus. She is a performer, choreographer, and educator, and she co-runs a dance school with her mother, Natasha, where they share their passion for dance with new generations. Her mother, also a dancer, is cited as her greatest inspiration for her dedication to Bharatanatyam. Volodina actively seeks dialogue with other artists and musicians, and her performances often feature live music. She is known for her improvisational style within Bharatanatyam, engaging with musicians and bringing the ancient dance form to new audiences. Beyond her dance career, Antonia Volodina also works as a language teacher at KUL in Antwerp, where she teaches future interpreters. She finds inspiration in her predecessors, innovative art, nature, and the communities she is a part of.
