Anu Shinai, a Kathak dancer from Mumbai, India, commenced her Kathak training at the age of ten under the tutelage of the renowned Kathak Guru, Late Smt. Asha Joglekar, at the Archana Nrityalaya institute. She holds a Kathak Alankaar Poorna (Post Graduate/MA) qualification from the Akhil Bhartiya Gandharv Mahavidyalay Mandaal, an Indian university. Shinai has cultivated a distinctive personal style by integrating elements from the Lucknow, Jaipur, and Banaras Gharanas, incorporating the powerful tatkar and chakri of Jaipur, the nazakat and body movements of Lucknow, and the natwari bol, pakhawaj ke bol, tukde, and paran of Banaras. She is recognized as a hardworking choreographer, a dynamic teacher, and an engaging performer, striving to create art that reflects her cultural influences. Anu Shinai founded Kathak Yatra in 2017, an institute dedicated to the education, promotion, and preservation of Kathak dance and classical Indian art and culture. The institute offers formal examinations up to Alankaar (Masters) in Kathak, including theory and practical dance performance, with affiliation from Gandharva Mahavidyalaya, Miraj. She has performed extensively in solo and group capacities, showcasing Kathak, Bollywood, Lavani, and Folk dances at various events and festivals globally. Earlier in her career, she also served as a Kathak dance teacher at Archana Nrityalaya for approximately three years. She choreographed and performed a Kathak ballet titled 'Vibgyor' as a tribute to her Guru, Asha Joglekar.
