Anu Sury, also known as Anupama Sury, is an Indian classical dancer and teacher specializing in Bharatanatyam. She began her dance training at the age of 12 under the tutelage of Smt. Revathi Satyu in Dallas, Texas. Furthering her artistic development, Sury also had the privilege of training under the esteemed Prof. Sudharani Raghupathy in Chennai, India. Sury is a dedicated educator, serving as a teacher and later as the Artistic Director at the Arathi School of Dance in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, where she imparts her knowledge of Bharatanatyam. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes nurturing students and allowing them to develop their artistic abilities at their individual pace. Beyond her teaching roles, Anu Sury is a founding member of the Indique Dance Company, established in Dallas in June 2008. This company is committed to creating and presenting elegant productions that blend contemporary and relevant themes with the rich storytelling artistry of Indian classical dance. She has choreographed for and participated in many original dance productions with this troupe. In addition to her artistic endeavors, Sury is actively involved in the cultural community. She serves on the Board of Directors of the Indian Cultural Heritage Foundation (ICHF), a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting intercultural awareness through various cultural programs. While a physician by profession, Anu Sury demonstrates a profound passion for performing, teaching, and promoting Indian classical dance.
