Anupama Sury, also known as Anu Sury, is an Indian classical dancer and teacher specializing in Bharatanatyam. She commenced her dance training at the age of 12 under the guidance of Smt. Revathi Satyu in Dallas, and further refined her artistry through training with Prof. Sudharani Raghupathy in Chennai, India. Sury is a founding member of the Indique Dance Company, established in Dallas in 2008. This company is dedicated to exploring and presenting contemporary and relevant themes using the rich vocabulary of classical Indian dance. In addition to her role at Indique Dance Company, she serves as the Artistic Director of the Arathi School of Dance, located in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, where she imparts her knowledge of Bharatanatyam. A physician by profession, Anu Sury demonstrates a profound passion for promoting and performing Indian classical dance. She is also actively involved in the cultural community, serving on the Board of Directors of the Indian Cultural Heritage Foundation (ICHF), an organization committed to fostering intercultural awareness. Her teaching philosophy centers on nurturing students and allowing them to develop their artistic abilities at their individual pace. Her dedication to teaching is evident through her students, such as Oviya R Vidyashankar, who have successfully completed their Arangetrams under her tutelage.
