Anvita Pandey is a professional Kathak dancer and teacher based in Zürich, Switzerland. She is a disciple of internationally renowned Kathak exponent, guru, and choreographer Shovana Narayan, who is a recipient of the Padma Shri and Sangeet Natak Akademi award. Anvita Pandey also refers to Sharmila Sharma as her Guru, under whose guidance she has worked on choreographies. As a performer, Anvita Pandey has showcased Kathak in various cities across Europe, including Lausanne, Baden, Riga (Latvia), Paris, Istanbul, Basel, Zürich, Rüschlikon, and Fribourg, with performances dating back to 2016. Her performances include a Bharatanatyam and Kathak Jugalbandi with Ashima Pyngottu at events such as the IAGZ Diwali Gala in Zürich in 2018 and for the Light in Life Foundation in St. Gallen in 2019. She has also collaborated on significant productions like "Ekam," a Bharatanatyam-Kathak collaboration with Ashima Pyngottu and Aniruddha Ghosh, performed for Keli Swiss in June 2022. Additionally, she was involved in "Naachi Meera," a dance, music, and literature collaborative on women saints, where she performed the Kathak segment with choreography and guidance from Guru Sharmila Sharma. In April 2022, she participated in "SARVA - Freedom and Hope," a collaborative Indian dance production in Geneva. As a teacher, Anvita Pandey conducts weekly Kathak classes for children, young adults, and adults at beginner and intermediate levels in Zurich, Thalwil, and Zug. She also leads workshops at academic institutions such as ETH Zurich, for corporate entities like Google, and at various dance festivals including Vertanzt, Zurich Tanzt, and Interkultur Fest. She offers private sessions and Kathak-based choreographies upon request.
