Arpita Sen Lahiri is a distinguished Bharatanatyam performer and teacher, whose journey in Indian classical dance began at the tender age of six. She is a senior disciple of the illustrious Guru Dr. Thankamani Kutty, a Sangeet Natak Academy awardee, and Smt. Girija Balagopal, both from Kalamandalam Kolkata. Her rigorous training culminated in her Arangetram in 2003, which garnered positive reviews in prominent newspapers such as The Times of India, The Statesman, The Hindustan Times, and The Telegraph. Her early talent was evident when she appeared as a young dancer on Doordarshan Kendra Kolkata at age 12 and represented West Bengal at the International Children's Assembly in New Delhi at age 14. Arpita Sen Lahiri has been an active member of the Kalamandalam Kolkata Performing Wing for several years, participating in numerous prestigious dance festivals across India and internationally in locations like Australia, San Francisco, Kuwait, and Singapore, both as a group member and a solo artist. Beyond Bharatanatyam, she has expanded her classical dance repertoire, receiving training in Bharatanrithyam under Guru Dr. Sujatha Mohan of Padmashree Nrithyalaya, Chennai, and in Kuchipudi under the esteemed Padmabhushan Drs. Raja Radha Reddy and Guru Kaushalya Reddy. She has also enriched her understanding of Bharatanatyam through intensive workshops with renowned gurus such as Guru Shankar Kandasamy, Guru Priyadarsini Govind, and Guru Anita Ratnam. Academically, Arpita Sen Lahiri holds a Master's Degree in English and has also pursued Western Classical Violin studies at The Calcutta School of Music. Her contributions to the arts have been recognized with several accolades, including the National Scholarship from the Ministry of Culture, Government of India (2005-2007), the Tagore Foundation Scholarship (1998-1999), a 'Certificate of Merit' and Award of Excellence in the 21st Nehru Talent Search Contest (1999), the Kindled Spirits Award by The Dance India organisation (2018), the Natya Latika Award (2018), and the Debanshi Kalinga Nrutya Samman (2020). She has also served as a dance teacher at Kendriya Vidyalaya, Air Force Station, Nashik. She dedicates her life to dance and music, acknowledging the profound influence of her gurus, parents, and sibling.
