🪔 About

Arthy Ahmed is an internationally acclaimed Bharatanatyam dancer, educator, and cultural leader from Bangladesh, widely recognized for her commitment to ethical art practices in dance. She began her dance journey at the age of three. Ahmed pursued extensive training in Bharatanatyam in India, earning both a BA Honours and a Master's degree from Rabindra Bharati University in Kolkata, under an ICCR scholarship. She further specialized with a Diploma in Teacher's Training in Dance Education, majoring in Dance Psychology, from Madras University in Chennai. Upon returning to Bangladesh, Arthy Ahmed shifted her focus towards dance education and community building. She is credited as the pioneer of Adult Beginners Dance Classes globally, an initiative that has grown into a widely recognized curriculum. Her work with adult beginners began in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic, initially online, and later expanded to in-person classes. She founded the Arthy Ahmed Dance Academy in Dhaka, which is known for its inclusive adult dance classes and community productions. The academy currently teaches over 600 students, ranging from children to adults up to 70 years old, fostering an environment where dance is accessible to all and focusing on emotional healing through movement. Ahmed is also the initiator of the #danceyourage movement, advocating for age-appropriate choreography and healthy artistic practices for children. She has represented Bangladesh on numerous international platforms, including through her work as a choreographer for Shadhona Cultural Circle. Her contributions to the arts have been recognized with significant accolades, including the Ekushey Padak in 2026, Bangladesh's second-highest civilian award, and the Top Outstanding Young Person of Bangladesh in 2025. Arthy Ahmed is also a TEDx Speaker and has collaborated on international projects such as "Sahasa" with the UK-based Sonia Sabri Company. Her academy has staged several notable productions, including "Sakhi" in 2023, featuring 90 women dancers, and the monsoon-themed "Ghonoghota" in August 2025, inspired by Rabindranath Tagore's works. In July 2026, the Arthy Ahmed Dance Academy presented "Ghonoghota 2" with over 300 performers. Awards & Honours: Top Outstanding Young Person of Bangladesh (2025), Ekushey Padak (2026).
