Guru Vidushi Asha Adiga Acharya has dedicated over 25 years to the field of Indian classical dance, excelling as a student, performer, choreographer, composer, and educator in Bharatanatyam. Her artistic journey began at a young age, encouraged by her parents, Smt. Srimathi Adiga and Late Shri Chandrashekhara Adiga. She received her formal Bharatanatyam training in the Kalakshetra dance style from Vidhwan Raja Gopala Bhagavath and Vidushi Poornima Bhagavath, under whose guidance she completed her "Vidhwat" level. She also secured a 3rd Rank in the state-level 'Vidhwat' examination conducted by the Secondary Board of Karnataka government. Earlier in her career, she further honed her Bharatanatyam skills under Guru Shubha Dhananjaya (Shubha Narasimayya) and Hanumanthraj. Beyond dance, Asha Adiga Acharya is also an accomplished Carnatic music performer, having trained under Vidhwan Raja Gopal Bhagavath and other gurus, and achieved a 1st class in singing exams from the Secondary Board of Karnataka. A child prodigy, Asha Adiga Acharya represented India on the international stage as a dancer at the age of nine. Her performances have graced venues across India, in Paris, France, and in numerous cities throughout the United States, including New York, New Jersey, Washington D.C., Michigan, Indianapolis, St. Louis, and Illinois. She founded the "Sanskruti School of Dance" in India, where she organized various classical dance, folk dance, and music workshops. Expanding her teaching endeavors to the United States, she established the "Acharya Performing Arts Academy" and conducted dance and music classes and workshops in several states. Her creative contributions extend to visualizing, choreographing, and directing numerous classical dance dramas, ballets, and musical productions, such as “Shiva Lalata Thandava,” “Kanakadasa – Udupi Krishna,” and “Shiva-Shakthi.” Her significant contributions to the arts have earned her several accolades, including an Indian government scholarship in senior dance, the J.C Club “Outstanding Young Indian” Award, the “Kala Isiri Award” (2006), the Air India “Rank Award” (2006), and the “Sharada Puraskara.” She was also honored by the Haryana State Government in 1999 for her exceptional dance performance and received first prizes in national-level music and dance competitions in Agra in the same year. In 2001, as a National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadet, she secured 1st prize for Karnataka in a cultural competition during the Republic Day parade. She holds an extraordinary artist greencard in the USA and is an esteemed member of the international dance council CID – UNESCO.
