Avijit Das is a distinguished Indian classical dancer, teacher, choreographer, and vocalist, known for his expertise in both Kuchipudi and Bharatanatyam. Born on February 28, 1986, in Nalhati, West Bengal, India, he began his journey in classical dance at the tender age of five, receiving his initial training in Bharatanatyam under Smt. Sanaka Biswas of Shanti Niketan. He further honed his Bharatanatyam skills at the prestigious Kalakshetra Foundation (Rukmini Devi College of Fine Arts) in Chennai, where he obtained his Diploma on a merit scholarship in 2011. Das developed a keen interest in Kuchipudi and received initial training at the Kuchipudi Art Academy under the legendary Guru Sri Vempati Chinna Satyam and renowned exponent Smt. Manju Bharggavee. He is currently under the guidance of Sri Jaikishore Mosalikanti. Avijit Das made his debut performance at the age of nine and has since performed extensively across India and internationally, including at the Khajuraho Dance Festival, Bhramara Festival of Dance, Indian Habitat Center, Natyanjali Dance Festival, Erasing Borders Dance Festival (USA), and Drive East Dance Festival (USA). He is also a Grade artist with Chennai Doordarshan. In 2011, Avijit Das founded the Kim Aham School of Indian Classical Dance in Bengaluru, an institution recognized by UNESCO, dedicated to training dancers in Kuchipudi and Bharatanatyam. Through Kim Aham, he has conducted numerous workshops in collaboration with SPIC MACAY and masterclasses in various countries. He also organizes annual dance festivals such as Saranaagathi and Kavipranam. Beyond his dance career, Das has a Diploma in Carnatic music and has been recognized as a journalist and dance critic.
