Dr. Shri G. Ratheesh Babu is a highly acclaimed and renowned Indian classical dancer, teacher, and choreographer, specializing in Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi, and Mohiniattam. His journey in Indian Classical Dance began at the age of five, where he first learned Mohiniattam under the tutelage of Guru Kalanilayam Krishnan Kutty in Kerala. He further delved into the intricacies of Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi under the guidance of Smt. Amritam Gopinath (Aryakalanilayam) and Ms. Barnona Basu from Mumbai. He specialized in Bharatanatyam under the esteemed Kalaimamani Padmashri Shri Adayar K. Laxman in Chennai. Additionally, he studied Carnatic music under Shree Trissur T Unnikrishnan. Dr. Ratheesh Babu is an empanelled artist of the ICCR (Indian Council for Cultural Relations), Ministry of Culture, Government of India. With a career spanning over 35 years, he has showcased his immense talent through more than 1750 solo and group performances in major festivals across India and internationally. He is the founder-director of 'NRITHYATHI KALAKSHETRAM', a School of Indian Classical Dance, established nearly two decades ago. The academy, affiliated with Indira Kala Sangeet Vishwavidyalaya, Khairagarh, Pracheen Kala Kendra Chandigarh, and All India Dancers Association (AIDA), has grown from two students to over 500, with learning centers in cities like Raipur, Bhilai, Durg, Nagpur, Bhopal, Pune, Kannur, Vizag, and Bangalore. He is recognized for his graceful and gifted dancing, his classical approach, and his dedication to preserving and propagating traditional Indian dance forms.
