Barbara Framm is a multi-talented artist with extensive training in various musical instruments and classical Indian dance forms, primarily Bharatanatyam. She has also performed Kathakali with K.P. and Katherine Kunhiraman and Odissi with Vishnu Tatwa Das. Framm has been associated with Kalanjali for nearly 50 years. She is the founder and teacher of Saraswati Kala Nilaya, her own Bharatanatyam school located in Marin. As of 2016, she had been actively practicing and performing classical Indian dances, including Bharatanatyam and Odissi, for close to four decades. In 2014, she accepted the Malonga Casquelourd Lifetime Achievement Award on behalf of her gurus, K.P. and Katherine Kunhiraman, acknowledging her role as one of their earliest students and dance partners. Her teaching legacy includes her daughter, Tara Catherine Pandeya, who also pursued a career in dance, beginning with Indian classical dance.
