Bhanu Deka is an internationally reputed Indian classical dance artist, choreographer, and guru, primarily known for her contributions to Sattriya dance. She has played a significant role in mapping the cultural geography of Sattriya dance both nationally and globally through her extensive performances across continents. Deka is an approved and empanelled solo dancer of Sattriya Dance for Doordarshan, India's public service broadcaster. Beyond her performing career, she is also recognized as an established choreographer and dance director for television serials and telefilms. As an educator and institution head, Bhanu Deka serves as the Director of the Dance Section of Youth Club Sangeet Mahavidyalaya in Mangaldai. Under her direction, she and her group have performed in numerous locations across India. In addition to Sattriya, she is also a reputed Bihu dancer, having performed this folk dance form in countries like Russia, Germany, and Bhutan, as well as various places within India. Deka is also known for her skills as a costume designer, personally creating all the costumes used in her performances. Her work has been featured in media, including a "Sattriya Nritya Sambhar" presented by Prag News Assam.
