Bijay Kumar Das is a distinguished Indian classical dancer and guru, primarily known for his contributions to Odissi dance. He received his initial training at the esteemed Orissa Dance Academy. Furthering his academic pursuits in music, he earned a Masters in Music with a specialization in Odissi Mardala from Utkal Sangeet Mahavidyalaya, Bhubaneswar. His comprehensive training also includes a Nritya Visharad from Prachin Kala Kendra and an Alankar from Akhila Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya Mandala, Mumbai. Throughout his career, Guru Bijay Kumar Das has been recognized for his exceptional precision in executing the fundamental Odissi postures of chauka and bhangi. He has served as a senior teacher at the Orissa Dance Academy, imparting his knowledge and expertise to numerous aspiring dancers. His performance career spans across India, with notable appearances in major cities such as New Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Bangalore, Faridabad, Guwahati, Nagpur, and Jaipur. Internationally, Guru Das has represented Indian classical dance on various platforms. He participated in the 20th Spring Friendship Art Festival in Pyongyang, North Korea, and the 14th International Festival of Dance & Music in Thailand. He has also performed in several major cities across the USA. From 2017 to 2020, he was listed as a "Past Guru" at the Odissi Academy. His collaborative performances include a notable appearance with Guru Nityananda Das at Odissi International 2012, where their joint rendition of "Priya Sakha" was particularly well-received. For his significant contributions to the field of dance, Bijay Kumar Das has been honored with the Senior National Scholarship from the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.
