Charulatha Jayaraman is an acclaimed Bharatanatyam performer, teacher, nattuvangam exponent, and choreographer, recognized for her captivating elegance and innovative techniques. She is the founder and Artistic Director of Shrishti School of Performing Arts, with branches in Orange County, California, USA, and Tiruchi, India. Jayaraman received her initial tutelage under Smt. Suba Parmar and Smt. Subhashini Chandrasekar, and is an ardent disciple of the Sangeet Nataka Academy Awardee Guru Smt. Indira Rajan, a renowned nattuvanar. A practitioner of the Pandanallur style of Bharatanatyam, her performances are celebrated for combining superior artistry with emotional directness. She has performed extensively across India and internationally at prestigious cultural events, including the Konark Music and Dance Festival, Soorya festival, and Mamallapuram festival, and was notably the youngest performer at the National festival of classical dance and music in Agartala, Tripura. Charulatha has also played lead roles in numerous dance dramas such as "Kuraloviyam," "Kutrala Kuravanji," and "Ramayan." She co-founded Shrishti School of Bharatanatyam in India in 2002, which continues to serve as a platform for aspiring students. After relocating to the United States, she established Shrishti School of Performing Arts in Irvine, California, a registered non-profit organization, where she continues to train students and promote Indian culture through classical dance.
