Chetna Raniga-Jogia is an Indian classical and contemporary dancer, choreographer, and the artistic director of Darpan Dance Company. Born in Nairobi, Kenya, and raised in Dallas, Texas, she developed a passion for dance early on, training in various styles including Bharatanatyam, Kathak, and contemporary Jazz. Raniga-Jogia began choreographing in 1990, with her initial work inspired by instrumental music, which garnered positive attention. In 1998, she established the Darpan Dance Company in Dallas, Texas, with 'Darpan' meaning 'reflect,' signifying her belief that music and dance reflect one's soul. Following her marriage in 2010, she relocated to the UK, initially settling in Sheffield. She subsequently brought the Darpan Dance Company to Leicester, attracted by the city's vibrant arts scene. The company offers a diverse range of dance styles, including Indian classical, contemporary, Jazz, and Bollywood, catering to dancers of all ages and abilities. Under her leadership, Darpan Dance Company has achieved recognition, including winning the dance category at Leicester's Got Talent in 2013, and regularly performs at significant events such as the Leicester Melas and Diwali Hungamama show.
