Chidambaram R. Suresh is a distinguished Bharatanatyam dancer, choreographer, nattuvangam artist, and teacher, widely recognized for his contributions to Indian classical dance, particularly in Australia. He received his training from eminent exponents of the art form in India, including 'Kalaimaamani' Dr. Uma Anand and 'Padmabhushan' Prof. C. V. Chandrasekhar. Suresh holds a Diploma in Bharathanatyam (Natyakalaimani) and a Diploma in Nattuvangam (Nattuvangakalaimani) from Annamalai University, India. In 2010, he co-founded the Samarpana Institute of Dance in Sydney, Australia, with his wife Shobana Suresh, with a mission to provide quality training in Bharatanatyam and allied arts. Known for his innate sense of rhythm, Suresh has composed intricate jathis (rhythm syllables) and dance compositions in rare and complex rhythmic sequences. He is the author of the acclaimed book “108 Bharathanatyam Jathis,” which has garnered positive reviews from experts in the field. With nearly 17 years of experience as a dance practitioner and teacher, he has developed unique teaching methodologies. Suresh has also performed nattuvangam for his guru, C.V. Chandrasekhar, during his tours in Australia in 2011 and 2014. In 2018, he co-produced the dance film “Our Country,” which explored Dorothea Mackellar's iconic poem through Bharatanatyam, featuring his original jathi compositions.
