Chitra Lakshumanan is a Bharatanatyam dancer recognized for her solo recitals in Chennai, India. She is a disciple of the esteemed Bharatanatyam guru Srekala Bharath. Chitra Lakshumanan has showcased her talent at prominent venues, including The Music Academy as part of the HCL Concert Series and at Bharat Kalachar. Her performances feature a diverse Bharatanatyam repertoire, encompassing traditional pieces such as a shlokam on Muruga, Shadakshara Kouthuvam, Mandooka Shabdam, and the Swarajathi 'E Mayaladira'. She is lauded for her precise hand movements, sharp footwork, and expressive abhinaya, through which she conveys emotions with finesse. Notably, Chitra Lakshumanan manages to maintain her dedication to Bharatanatyam despite pursuing a medical degree and learning the dance form during summers and through Skype, demonstrating remarkable astuteness and engaging performances. Her guru, Srekala Bharath, also provides choreography and nattuvangam for some of her performances.
