Chitra Poornima Satish (b. 1986) is a distinguished Carnatic musician and educator based in Singapore, known for her significant contributions to Indian classical arts. Her artistic journey commenced at the Temple of Fine Arts (TFA) in Singapore, where she initially trained in Carnatic vocal music under the tutelage of teachers Rajalakshmi Sekar and Gowri Gokul. In 2001, upon graduating in Carnatic Music from TFA, she was honored with the title “Ghaanavinodhini”. Poornima furthered her advanced training in India, beginning in 2004, under the renowned musician Bombay Jayashri. Her dedication to her art was recognized with the National Arts Council (NAC) Arts Scholarship in 2009, which supported her continued studies in India. She also pursued academic excellence, completing a Master in Education (Music) at the National Institute of Education (NIE) in Singapore in 2021, and has since been invited by NIE to teach Indian Classical music to graduate students. As a valuable contributor and teacher at the Temple of Fine Arts, Singapore, Poornima plays a significant role in the institution's performances, academic programs, and community initiatives. Since 2014, she has curated the Shantanjali Festival of Arts (SFA) at TFA, fostering collaboration and exchange among diverse Singaporean artists and arts groups. A passionate composer, Poornima creates music for dance, drawing inspiration from her own years of Bharatanatyam training at TFA. Her compositions aim to be rooted in traditional values while continuously evolving. She has collaborated with prominent local and international arts organizations and artists, including Apsaras Arts Dance Company, The Esplanade, Mavin Khoo, and the Akram Khan Company, composing music for productions such as 'Agathi' (2017) and 'I am. Ravana' (2019). Her extensive performance career has taken her to prestigious venues globally, including The Esplanade in Singapore, The Music Academy and Mylapore Fine Arts Club in Chennai, Shanmukhananda Hall in Mumbai, and Sadler's Wells in London. She is a recipient of the Musiri Subramania Iyer Award in 2012 for her performance at Sri Krishna Gana Sabha's Music Festival in Chennai and the Young Artist Award from the National Arts Council in 2021.
