Smt. Chitra Vinodh is a highly accomplished Indian classical dancer and guru, primarily known for her expertise in Bharatanatyam, particularly the Vazhavoor style. Her journey in dance began under the guidance of her mother, Guru Smt. Jayanthi Thyagarajan. She further honed her skills under the tutelage of the renowned dance couple Karnataka Kalasree Guru Sri Kiran Subramaniam and Smt. Sandhya Kiran, under whom she performed her Arangetram. Chitra Vinodh completed her Vidwath and received advanced training from Karnataka Kalasree Guru B. Bhanumati, Director of Nrityakalamandiram, and was a prominent member of her dance troupe, Bharathanjali, touring extensively across the country. She also gained knowledge in various aspects of rhythm from Vidwan N. Naryanaswamy and continues to master the art of Nattuvangam under Guru Vidwan Sri. Lingaraju. Chitra Vinodh holds a Master's Degree in Fine Arts (MFA) from Bharatidasan University. She is the Artistic Director of Natyavedalaya (Chitra Centre for Performing Arts) in Bangalore, an institution that has been successfully running for over four decades, dedicated to preserving and propagating the essence of Bharatanatyam. An accomplished graded Doordarshan artiste, she has over 800 performances to her credit, gracing prestigious dance festivals across India. Her choreographic works include ballets like Sita Kalyanam, Krishnaashtakam, Dashavatharam & Shades of Love, which have received critical acclaim. She also created a unique production called “Samashti,” a confluence of Carnatic Music and intricate rhythmic patterns. Chitra Vinodh has successfully trained numerous students for their Arangetrams, with many excelling in dance examinations and some becoming graded artistes in Doordarshan.
