Daksha Mashruwala is a renowned Indian classical Odissi dancer, teacher, and choreographer, based in Mumbai, India. Her early training in classical dance began with Bharatnatyam under Smt. Mrinalini Sarabhai at Darpana in Ahmedabad. She subsequently received intense training and guidance in Odissi from the distinguished maestro Padmavibhushan the Late Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra, commencing in 1988. An accomplished exponent, teacher, and choreographer, Mashruwala has dedicated over two decades to promoting Odissi, performing, conducting workshops, and delivering lecture-demonstrations both in India and internationally. She is recognized as a 'Top Grade artist' of Doordarshan. Her career includes performances at prestigious events such as the Durgalal Festival in Mumbai (1997), the Khajuraho Festival with Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra (1998), and international appearances at the Odissi Festival in Washington (2000), the Canadian Museum in Ottawa (2000), and a 10-city tour of the USA (2004). Mashruwala is the Founder-Director of Kaishiki Nrityabhasha, an institution that nurtures and encourages young dancers, many of whom have matured into professional solo artists and teachers. She is also actively involved in 'Sanyuktam', a collaborative initiative for cultural heritage enrichment, and partners with Sangit Mahabharti to propagate Indian classical art forms.
