Debashree Das is an acclaimed Indian classical Odissi dancer, choreographer, and educator, known for her dedication to the traditional form while exploring creative expressions. Her journey in Odissi began at the age of five under the tutelage of Sri Ganesh Swain at the Orissa Dance Academy. She furthered her training at the prestigious Padma Vibhushan Kelucharan Mohapatra Odissi Dance Academy in Bhubaneswar. Debashree completed her Visharad in Odissi Classical Dance under Guru Gangadhar Pradhan and continues to refine her art under Guru Sarita Mishra. At sixteen, she came under the guidance of Shri Yudhisthir Nayak and also had the privilege of learning from Shri Bichitrananda Swaim from Rudrakshya. In 2014, she earned her Master Degree – Alankar Purna – in Odissi dance with distinction from Gandharva Mahavidyalaya in Delhi. Debashree Das has performed and traveled globally, spreading the essence of Odissi dance. She has participated in numerous prestigious programs and competitions, earning multiple first prizes and critical acclaim. She tours internationally with Rudrakshya's new choreographic works and conducts workshops. Currently based in Australia, she founded the Nrityashree Dance Academy, where she introduces Odissi to new generations and communities. Her academy has performed at significant events, including the ICCR Australia Independence Day celebration in Canberra and Parliament House. Beyond her dance career, Debashree holds an M. Tech in Computer Science Engineering from Utkal University, Bhubaneswar, and a B.Sc. in Physics (hons) from OUAT, Bhubaneswar. She has also worked as a senior lecturer, teaching engineering students and in a CBSE school.
