Deepa Natarajan is a renowned Bharatanatyam dance guru, performer, teacher, nattuvangam artist, choreographer, and the head of the Nrithya Geethanjali School of Dance. She began her Bharatanatyam training at the age of four under the tutelage of Guru Smt. Rajee Narayan in Mumbai, an esteemed guru, musician, composer, and choreographer. Deepa Natarajan performed her Arangetram, her debut solo performance, at the age of thirteen. Deepa Natarajan is an exponent of the Thanjavur Bani of Bharatanatyam. She commenced her teaching career in 1995, at the age of 22, in South Carolina after her marriage. She later established her dance academy, Nrithya Geethanjali, in Bangalore, India, where she taught over 55 students. She has performed across India and the United States. In 2015, she relocated to Potomac, Maryland, where she continues to lead Nrithya Geethanjali Dance School, teaching approximately 25 students, with at least six students having completed their Arangetram under her guidance in Potomac.
