Devoleena Bhattacharjee is an Indian actress and a trained Bharatanatyam dancer, born on August 22, 1985, in Sivasagar, Assam, India. She pursued her higher education at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) in New Delhi. Before venturing into acting, Bhattacharjee worked as a jewellery designer for Gili India Ltd. in Mumbai. Her journey in classical dance began at a young age, starting to learn classical music at six and achieving Sangeet Visharad Part 1 in Classical Music from Bhatkhande Music Institute, Lucknow. She received her Bharatanatyam training from the esteemed Kalakshetra Foundation in Chennai. Bhattacharjee's dance talent was first publicly recognized when she auditioned for the dance reality series *Dance India Dance 2*, where she was among the top 100 in the Delhi auditions. Bhattacharjee made her acting debut in 2011 with NDTV Imagine's *Sawaare Sabke Sapne Preeto*. Her breakthrough role came in June 2012 when she replaced Giaa Manek as the lead character Gopi Ahem Modi in StarPlus's popular and long-running show *Saath Nibhaana Saathiya*, a role she reprised in its sequel, *Saath Nibhaana Saathiya 2*. She has also been a contestant in the reality television show *Bigg Boss* for three seasons: *Bigg Boss 13*, *Bigg Boss 14*, and *Bigg Boss 15*. In her personal life, Devoleena Bhattacharjee married her gym trainer, Shanwaz Shaikh, on December 14, 2022, and the couple welcomed their son on December 18, 2024.
