Dóra Meenakshi Bittner is a Bharatanatyam performer, teacher, and graphic designer from Hungary. She began her Indian classical dance studies in Budapest in 1997. Her training deepened with study trips to South India in 2000 and 2002, exploring various traditional schools and art festivals in Tamil Nadu. From 2003, she continued her studies at the Kala Darsana Institute of Art in Chennai, India, under the tutelage of Jayanthi Subramaniam, a distinguished dancer and director of the institute. Bittner had her Arangetram, her debut solo performance, in Chennai, South India, in 2005, accompanied by Carnatic musicians. She is the founder of the Kala Samarpana school in Budapest, Hungary, where she teaches Bharatanatyam to children and adults at various levels. She is also a member of the International Dance Council (CID / UNESCO). Her performance career includes numerous cultural events and festivals in Hungary and internationally. Notably, she performed at the Kumbh Mela, a major spiritual festival in North India, in 2010. Bittner has also been involved in dance film productions. In 2008, she starred in “Yantra,” the first Hungarian thematic Bharatanatyam dance film, which was screened successfully at dance film festivals worldwide. In 2015, she was a co-creator and featured artist in “Over The Moon,” a film that blends South Indian sacred dance with European experimental film techniques. This short film garnered four awards at the Chennai International Independent Film Festival (CIIFF) in 2016. Awards & Honours: Awards for 'Over The Moon' (short film) (2016).
