Dr. Radhika Kalluraya is a prominent exponent of Bharatanatyam, hailing from Sullia Taluk in the Dakshina Kannada District of Karnataka, India. Born to Shree Srikrishna Deva Poojathaya and Smt. Vasanthi Amma, she displayed a strong inclination towards dance and music from a young age. Her mother, a vocalist, was her first guru in Karnataka Music. Radhika Kalluraya commenced her classical dance training under Sri Balakrishna Manjeshwara of Natyanilayam. She successfully completed her Junior Exams in Bharatanatyam in 1994 and her Senior Exams in 2000. Her arangetram, or debut performance, took place in Puttur in 1998, where she received significant acclaim. She further pursued higher studies in Bharatanatyam under the guidance of internationally acclaimed artist, Dr. Sanjay Shantharam. Dr. Radhika Kalluraya is recognized for her versatile artistry, which extends beyond classical dance to include instrumental music, particularly the violin, for which she received an 'A' Grade Award in a State Level Violin Competition in Kerala. She has studied Karnataka Music under Vidwan Vellikoth Vishnu Bhat. As a Bharatanatyam artist, she has given over 1000 stage performances across India, earning favorable critical reviews from the media for her creativity, imagination, and emotional expression. She is the founder of Radhika's Academy of Performing Arts, where she serves as a classical dancer, choreographer, teacher, and singer.
