Dr. Sunita Bhatia commenced her training in Indian classical dance at the age of six, focusing on Kathak under the tutelage of Guru Usha Sharma at the Jhankar Dance School in Winnipeg. She further pursued Bharatnatyam, completing her Arangetram under the guidance of Guru Maneka Thakar. Dr. Bhatia is a co-founder of Manohar, a dance troupe based in Winnipeg. She established her own institution, AnishKa School of Dance, where she imparts Bharatnatyam education to children. Since 2002, Dr. Bhatia has been an integral part of Upasana The Spirit of Dance, directed by Guru Saveeta Sharma, where she has expanded her dance repertoire to include Odissi and Indian contemporary dance. She actively performs in and contributes to Upasana's productions, having featured in "Incarnations of Fire" (2003), "Nritya Sundaram" (2009), and "Utkalika" (2016). Her commitment to continuous learning is evident through her participation in advanced dance workshops led by esteemed artists such as Guru Kalanidhi Narayanan, Vidushi Saswati Sen, and Padma Vibhushan Pandit Birju Maharaj. Dr. Bhatia continues to dance and teach at Upasana.
