Dr. Dwaram Venkata Krishna Ganesha Tyagaraj, born on May 15, 1970, is a distinguished Indian musician and accompanist specializing in Kuchipudi. Hailing from Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, India, he comes from a highly reputed family of classical musicians. He is the grandson of the world-renowned violin maestro “Sangita Kalanidhi” and “Padmasri” Prof. Dwaram Venkataswamy Naidu, and the second son of “Sangita Kalaprapoorna” Prof. Dwaram Bhavanarayana Rao and “Vidushi” Smt. Dwaram Venkata Varadamma. His extensive musical training includes Carnatic vocal under his parents and stalwarts such as Smt. M.L. VasantaKumari, Sri. D.K. Jayaraman, Prof. T.R. Subramaniam, and Sri. Nedunuri Krishnamurty. He also studied Hindustani vocal with Pandit J.V.S. Rao, Mridangam with Sri. K. Veerabhadra Rao, Ch. Krishnamurthy, and Sri Mullapudi Sriramamurty, and Light Music with Sri. Tirupathi Ramanuja Suri. Academically, Dr. Tyagaraj holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Music from Andhra University (2002), being the first scholar to receive this award from the department. He also earned a “Sangit Alankar” (Post graduation in Music) from A.B.G.M.V.V. New Delhi, a Diploma in Music with Distinction, and a Certificate in Mridangam from the Government of Andhra Pradesh. His professional career spans over 25 years in educational institutions under the Ministry of Human Resources Development, Government of India. He served as a guest faculty in the Dance Department at Andhra University, teaching music to M.A. dance students, and developed curricula for M.A. Music (Distance Education) at Sri Padmavathi Mahila University. A B-High Grade artist for All India Radio and Doordarshan in devotional and light music, he has performed widely, composed and directed music for several audio albums, and for classical dance ballets, including those for Bhagawan Sri Satya Sai Baba. He has toured internationally for concerts in Malaysia, Singapore, and was invited to teach Carnatic music in Pittsburgh, USA. He has been honored with the “UGADI PURASKAR” by the Government of Andhra Pradesh in 2016 and conferred with titles such as “Annamacharya Sankeerthana Abhigna,” “Sangeeth Alankar,” and “Asthana Vidwan” by prestigious institutions like Sri Sri Sri Kanchi Kama Koti Peetham.
