Enakshi Sinha is a prominent Odissi dancer, choreographer, producer, and art educator based in Toronto, Canada. She embarked on her journey in Indian Classical dance with Bharatnatyam before dedicating herself to the intricate art of Odissi. She received extensive training in Odissi under the tutelage of legendary Gurus Kelucharan Mohapatra and Sharmila Biswas. Her expertise also extends to Mayurbhanj Chau, a martial art form from Orissa, and she is currently engaged in master classes on Natyashastra instructed by Dr. Piyal Bhattacharya. Sinha is the Founder Chairperson and Artistic Director of Mrudanga Centre for Performing Arts, an institution in Toronto and Windsor dedicated to training dancers and preserving India's cultural legacy. Since 2007, Mrudanga has provided dance training for children and adults and annually organizes “UMANG – Light of Hope,” a dance festival that invites acclaimed artists from North America and overseas. With an active performance career spanning over 19 years, Enakshi Sinha has graced major festivals across India, Europe, and North America, performing both as a soloist and with her dance productions. Notable performances include the TajMahotsav in 2018, appearances at the Embassy of India in Paris and Portugal in 2019, the Khajuraho Festival in 2020, and a performance at Casa de la India in Spain for the Embassy of India in 2023. She also had the honor of performing during Indian Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi's visit to Toronto. Since 2017, Enakshi has served as a cultural ambassador for India Tourism in Canada, actively engaging in collaborative projects, including a unique fusion of Odissi dance with an Indigenous throat singer in Baker Lake, Nunavut, in 2017. She has also collaborated with Theatre Prospero for the dance theatre production 'Anthem of Life' and introduced Indian classical dance as a full-fledged production at the Stratford festival in 2019 with her production 'Colours of Winter'.
