🪔 About
Eva Soltes is a dedicated practitioner, producer, and documentarian specializing in traditional South Indian Bharatanatyam dance. She received intensive training for over 40 years from the legendary master dancer T. Balasaraswati and her family, deeply immersing herself in this classical art form. Soltes has a multifaceted career that spans performing arts production, dance, and filmmaking. She has produced, directed, and/or written nearly a thousand music, dance, theater, and media works for national and international audiences. Her commitment to Bharatanatyam includes serving as a visiting teacher at the Balasaraswati Institute of Music and Dance in Chennai in 2014/15. In 2016, she was invited to perform at the Madras Music Academy as part of a celebration for Balasaraswati's 98th birthday. Beyond her dance contributions, Soltes is the Founder and Director of Harrison House Music, Arts & Ecology, an artist residency and performance program located in Joshua Tree, California. This institution also houses her extensive media archive. Earlier in her career, she served as Concert Director of 1750 Arch Concerts in Berkeley, California, where she oversaw more than 800 performances and hosted over 100 live radio broadcasts featuring artists globally. Through her workshops, Soltes has focused on the fundamental principles of Bharatanatyam, aiming to connect the ancient dance form with contemporary contexts.
