Fabrizia Verrecchia is an experienced teacher and performer of Bharatanatyam, Butoh, and Yoga, based near Hertford, just north of London, UK. Her journey into dance began in childhood, studying Bharatanatyam at a Krishnamurti School in Southern India. Upon returning to England, she continued her training with Marianne Balchin, a former student of the renowned Ram Gopal. Fabrizia further refined her technique through classes with Akademi (formerly the Academy of Indian Dance), and later with Anusha Subramanyam and teachers from the Kalakshetra School in Chennai, most recently under the tuition of Krishna Latha. Her performance experience is extensive, including appearances at the Commonwealth Institute, Royal Festival Hall, and the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS). She participated in a welcome dance for Ravi Shankar at the Barbican Hall and gave a solo recital at the British Museum to accompany an exhibition of South Indian art. Parallel to her classical Indian dance practice, Fabrizia has explored and performed the experimental Japanese dance form Butoh with the Café Reason Dance Group since 1997. She also integrates Yoga into her work, blending Hatha and Kundalini Yoga with poetry, visualisations, and the Alexander Technique. She holds a British Wheel of Yoga Foundation Certificate and trained with The Yoga For Health Foundation. Fabrizia offers one-to-one tuition, small group sessions, and workshops in Indian Temple Dance, often incorporating Yoga and Somatic Movement to foster fluidity and confidence. These sessions primarily take place at her Strawbale Studio near Hertford, and she also teaches in Welwyn Garden City.
