🪔 About
Fatin Nadhirah Rahmat is a Malaysian Bharatanatyam dancer, born in Melaka and raised in Kuantan, Pahang. Her passion for dance was ignited at an early age, influenced by her father, a performer of traditional Malay dances and theatre, who currently serves as the director of the National Arts and Culture Department in Johor. Nadhirah began her dance journey at the age of seven at Sekolah Kebangsaan Teruntum in Kuantan. She pursued higher education in dance at the National Academy of Arts, Culture, and Heritage (ASWARA) in Malaysia, where she earned both a Diploma in Dance and a Bachelor of Dance (Honours) with a major in performance, completing her Bachelor's degree in 2020. It was during her studies at ASWARA that she developed a profound fascination for Bharatanatyam, drawn to its intricate lines and complex technical aspects, which she noted shared similarities with traditional Malay dance forms. A significant milestone in her career was her solo debut Bharatanatyam Arangetram, performed on June 24, 2023, at the Shantanand Auditorium, Temple of Fine Arts, in Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur. This performance marked her formal graduation in the classical Indian dance form. Fatin Nadhirah is also a versatile performer, having participated in numerous ASWARA productions such as "Jamu," "Gelombang Baru," "TARI," and "Main Zapin". Her performance experience extends to events organized by MyDance Alliance, SoundDance by RAW Art Space, and Dancebox. She has also worked as a dancer in commercial TV shows and music videos for prominent Malaysian artists. Her dedication to dance led her to participate in a Hofesh Shecter workshop in Perth, Australia, in August 2019, and she competed in the television dance competition show "Dansa Dan Sing" in early 2020. Currently, Fatin Nadhirah Rahmat is a performer at ASK Dance Company, The Malaysian Dance Centre in Ampang, where she is a member of both the senior ensemble and the marketing team. Her talent was recognized with the Best Female Dancer award at Short+Sweet Malaysia 2016 for her exceptional performance in Sharm Noh's choreography titled 'Ketuk'. She is proficient in various dance styles, including contemporary, ballet, modern, hip-hop, and traditional Malay dances. Awards & Honours: Best Female Dancer for Short+Sweet Malaysia (2016).
