🪔 About
Flora Devi is an Indian classical dancer, actress, and storyteller, specializing in the Odissi dance style. She brings ancient myths and legends from India and Asia to life through the expressive mime, jeweled movement, and intricate delicacy of Odissi dance. Her performances often feature stories from Indian mythology and folklore, accompanied by traditional music and the rhythms of Odissi, a temple dance from Odisha in north-east India. Flora Devi teaches Odissi and Bollywood dance in France and Switzerland, and has also conducted workshops in India. She performs excerpts from the "Gita Govinda" with her guru, Shankar Behera, who is considered one of the best dancers of Odissi. Her work emphasizes the purity of sculptural postures, refined facial expressions, and powerful rhythms that characterize the Odissi style.
