Gaurab Kumar Dutta is a recognized figure in Indian classical dance, specializing in Sattriya. He serves as a Sattriya Dance Faculty at the MBMMC (Manoj Bhuyan Memorial Music College) in Jorhat. Dutta holds a B.Ed and M.A, in addition to a B.Mus in Sattriya. His training in Sattriya dance was under esteemed gurus including Rameswar Saikia Borbayan and Nilamoni Borbayan of Natun Kamalabari Sattra, and he also received tutelage from Tankeswar Hazarika Borbayan. Throughout his career, Gaurab Kumar Dutta has been acknowledged for his contributions to Sattriya, winning numerous national and regional competitions. He is also a performer and choreographer, having presented his own compositions, such as one based on Srimanta Sankaradeva's Keli Gopal Naat, which incorporates Krishna nach, Nandi Shloka, other shlokas, and a song from Auniati Sattra's Sri Sri Dharmeswar Dev's writings. His performances have been noted for their impact, with critics highlighting his perfect display of purusha ora (basic stances) and excellent portrayal of Mati Akhoras (basic movement units of Sattriya dance).
