🪔 About
Gayatri Krishnamurthy is an accomplished Bharatanatyam artiste and instructor, recognized as one of the "Trio Sisters of Chennai" alongside Radhika Shurajit and Shobana Bhalchandra. She is a senior disciple of the renowned dance duo, The Dhananjayans, under whom she received rigorous training in the widely practiced Kalakshetra style. Krishnamurthy further honed her skills under Padmabhushan Smt. Kalanidhi Narayanan, with a particular focus on the evocative nuances and expressive aspects of Bharatanatyam. Her dance journey began at a very early age, leading her to perform in numerous major productions. As part of the Trio Sisters, she performed extensively across India and at various international festivals in countries including Sri Lanka, Nigeria, Germany, the USSR, USA, Iraq, and the Middle East. Before relocating to Australia, Gayatri Krishnamurthy and her sisters established their own dance schools in Chennai and Coimbatore, where they imparted Bharatanatyam training to students. In 2000, she moved to Sydney, Australia, and has been actively teaching dance there ever since. She founded the Thrayee School of Bharatanatyam in Sydney, which is a registered institution. Krishnamurthy continues to perform for various organizations and festivals in Sydney, including the Hindu Council, India Tourism Office, Sri Venkateswara temple, Indian Welfare Association, Resourceful Australian Indian Association, and local council events.
