Gayatri Ranbir is an accomplished Indian classical Odissi dancer, soloist, and repertory artiste, deeply rooted in the Deba Prasad Das parampara. She has dedicated over two decades to the practice of Odissi dance under the expert guidance of her father and guru, Sri Durga Charan Ranbir, who is a celebrated protégé of Late Dr. Deba Prasad Das. Gayatri Ranbir holds a Visharad in Odissi Dance and a Master's Degree in English. Her training at Nrutyayan, a premier Odissi institution in Odisha founded by Guru Durga Charan Ranbir in 1987, began around 2009, where she was groomed in the traditional margam encompassing Mangalacharan, Batu Nritya, Pallavi, Abhinaya, and Moksha. Throughout her career, Gayatri Ranbir has performed extensively both as a soloist and as part of Nrutyayan's ensemble in various national and international dance festivals, including the Mukteswar Festival, Konark Nurtya Utsav, and the International Odissi Festival in 2011. Her international performances include tours to Russia, Uzbekistan, UFA, Moscow through ICCR, and performances in Bangkok and Tashkent. She is recognized for her clear sense of tala, precise taiyari, and sensitive abhinaya rooted in Odia literature and the Gita Govinda. Gayatri Ranbir has received several accolades for her contributions to Odissi dance, including the Shingar Mani Award in Sur Sammelan Mumbai, Nrutya Kowmudhi Awards in Eluru (A.P), and the Best Odissi dancer at an Inter College Competition. She was also awarded a Senior National Scholarship from the Ministry of Culture, HRD, Govt. of India. Beyond performing, she has embraced a teaching role, mentoring new batches and assisting rehearsals for ensemble items within Nrutyayan since 2022. She also supports outreach and orientation sessions for new learners and assists in introductory workshops.
