🪔 About

Gertrud Sohler is a German practitioner and teacher of Bharatanatyam, Yoga, and Heartfulness Meditation, based in Neusäß, Germany. Her journey into classical Indian dance began in 1993, leading her to live in India, primarily Madras (now Chennai), for six years until 1998, to intensively study the Bharatanatyam style. During this period, she received training at the esteemed College of Fine Arts Kalakshetra and honed her skills under the tutelage of various gurus, including Udupi Laxminarayan, Meena Raman, Bhraga Bessel, and Shobana Bhalchandra. She successfully completed her Arangetram, marking her formal stage debut as a Bharatanatyam dancer in Chennai. Since returning to Germany, Sohler has been actively involved in teaching and performing Bharatanatyam since 1997. Her artistic endeavors have also extended to modern dance productions, often in collaboration with other artists, such as a notable performance in 2012 with Beatrice Voigt Kunst- und Kulturprojekte. Beyond dance, Gertrud Sohler has pursued extensive training in Yoga, becoming a certified Yoga teacher, and later, a dedicated Heartfulness Meditation trainer. In 2013, Gertrud Sohler established her own studio, "Your Space – Yoga and more," in Augsburg/Neusäß, Germany, which relocated to new premises in 2023. While her studio offers a broad range of Yoga and Meditation classes, reflecting her current primary focus, she continues to impart her knowledge of Bharatanatyam by offering classes in advanced Indian dance. Her work aims to share the profound wisdom, beauty, and spiritual power of these ancient Indian traditions, supporting individuals in finding harmony and experiencing Yoga as a holistic practice.
