Gita Krishna Raj is an accomplished Indian classical dancer and choreographer specializing in Bharatanatyam, with a career spanning over three decades. She commenced her formal training at a young age, performing her arangetram in 1981 when she was nine years old. She is a distinguished disciple of the renowned gurus Narasimhachari and Vasanthalakshmi. Throughout her extensive career, Gita Krishna Raj has captivated audiences with numerous performances and has been lauded by connoisseurs and critics for her innovative choreography. Her notable dance productions include full-length works such as "SAVITRI" (based on Sri Aurobindo's classic), "VAIBOGAME" (celebrating celestial weddings), "BHARATIYIN VISWAROOPAM" (inspired by Subramanya Bharati's poems), "PADARAVINDAM THUNAI" (featuring Bhakti songs by her grandmother), and "BHAVANI VARUGINDRAR YESU" (a Tamil dance drama on the life of Jesus Christ). A highlight of her performing career was her presentation at the Rashtrapati Bhavan for the then President of India, H.E. Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, an event that was subsequently featured in "INDRA DHANUSH," a special publication on performing artists. In recognition of her artistic contributions, she was conferred the title 'KAPPIYAK KALAIMANI' by H.E. Dr. Channa Reddy, the Governor of Tamil Nadu. Beyond her contributions to classical dance, Gita Krishna Raj is also a multifaceted personality, serving as the CEO of Maverick Fitness Studios and Program Director of Maverick Fit Kids, an initiative focused on physical literacy. She is also an author, having penned the book 'Kaivalya,' and an international award-winning director of television serials. She hails from a family deeply rooted in the arts, being the niece of the world-renowned Padma Bhushan Dr. Padma Subrahmanyam.
