Gowri Sagar is an accomplished Indian classical dancer specializing in Bharatanatyam, recognized as an 'A' grade artist of Doordarshan and an empanelled artist of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) and SPICMACAY. She received her training from esteemed gurus including Sri Sathyanarayana Raju, Guru Shamala Aswath, and Guru Vid Thulasiram, grounding her in the Pandanallur style of Bharatanatyam. Sagar holds a gold medal in her Master's degree in Bharatanatyam from Jain University and has completed her Vidwat with Distinction from the Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board (KSSEB). As a performing artist and preceptor, Gowri Sagar has graced numerous national and international stages. Her performances include appearances at the Nalanda Nruthyotsava in Mumbai, SPICMACAY workshops in Chittor, Rajasthan, and Raichur, the Stein Auditorium in Delhi, the Kalabharathi Festival in Kerala, and the Ananya Nruthyollasa and Ananya Samarpana cross-border festivals. Internationally, she has performed across Europe, Russia, and China as part of Padmasri Prathibha Prahalad's Prasidda Repertoire, and has also presented her art in Dubai and Seychelles. Gowri Sagar is the founder and head of Srikanteshwara Kala Kendra, a dance institution based in Bengaluru, Karnataka, where she imparts her knowledge and passion for Bharatanatyam. Her contributions to the art form have been recognized with several accolades, including the Nalanda Nruthya Nipuna Mumbai, Kalayaana Trust's Nruthykala Praveene, a Vocational Excellence Award, and the Aryabhatta International Award. Through her academy and her performances, Gowri Sagar continues to nurture the next generation of Bharatanatyam dancers and promote the rich heritage of Indian classical dance.
