🪔 About
Guru Swati Sinha is a distinguished Kathak exponent, recognized as one of the foremost practitioners of the dance form today. She received her rigorous training in the Jaipur style of Kathak from the esteemed master Pt. Rajendra Gangani at the Kathak Kendra in New Delhi. Committed to the practice and propagation of Kathak, she has garnered praise from connoisseurs and critics for her performances, which are characterized by sharp yet graceful movements, intricate rhythm patterns, lithe footwork, and poignant expressions. An 'A' grade artist of Doordarshan, Guru Swati Sinha has performed extensively across the globe, participating in major cultural festivals such as the Khajuraho Dance Festival, Soorya Festival, Konark Festival, Kathak Mahotsava, Delhi International Arts Festival, and The Danube Carnival. Her international performances include tours to China and South Africa, sponsored by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR). She is also a firm believer in the Guru Shishya Parampara (teacher-disciple tradition) and actively works to spread Kathak through lecture demonstrations in both urban and rural schools for organizations like IRCEN and SPIC-MACAY. As a dedicated educator, Guru Swati Sinha established the Muniparampara Dance Academy in 2005, aiming to provide a blend of informal and institutionalized training in the traditional Gurukul style. She also founded her own dance company, Kriti, and is associated with Sampada Kathak Studio. Currently, she serves as a Senior Guru at the National Institute of Kathak Dance, Kathak Kendra, New Delhi. Her creative endeavors include choreographing thematic presentations like "Anvarat" and "Chand Pravah," which maintain the sanctity of the Kathak style while exploring diverse themes. She has been teaching Kathak since approximately 2006. Awards & Honours: Women Achievers Award, Women Achievers Award, Glory Award, Guru Kelucharan Mahapatra Yuva Prativa Samman.
