Hema Prabhath, also professionally known as Hema Panchamukhi, is an Indian Bharatanatyam dancer, choreographer, educator, and actress, renowned for her significant contributions to classical Indian dance, Kannada cinema, and television. Born into the distinguished Prabhath Kalavidaru family of performing artists in Karnataka, she was encouraged by her grandfather, Gopinatha Dasaru, to pursue the arts from a young age. She commenced performing Bharatanatyam at the age of five and received formal training under esteemed gurus Prof. U.S. Krishnarao and Smt. Chandrabhagadevi. Hema Prabhath made her debut solo presentation (Rangapravesha) in 1989. She is the founder and artistic director of Sukruti Natyalaya, also known as Naatyasukrutha Sukrutees, a Bharatanatyam dance academy established over two decades ago to train aspiring dancers. Through her academy, she provides rigorous training in Bharatanatyam, focusing on technique, expression, and cultural heritage, and has guided numerous students in solo recitals and group performances. She has also authored two books on Bharatanatyam and organizes annual national-level dance and music competitions. Alongside her husband, Prashanth Gopal Shastry, she co-established Naatyasukrutha, an organization dedicated to promoting performing arts. In addition to her dance career, Hema Prabhath has an extensive acting career in Kannada cinema and television, notably starring in the 1997 National Film Award-winning film "America! America!!" Awards & Honours: Naadaprabhu Kempegowda Award (2019).
