Her profound journey into the world of Manipuri dance commenced with rigorous training in Manipuri Dance Ras Sutradhari, a traditional and intricate style. She honed her skills under the tutelage of several esteemed gurus, including Shri Lokeshwar Singh, Th. Babu Singh, G. Ibopishak Sharma, Y. Gambhini Devi, Kh. Leipaklotpi Devi, and Smt. Y. Ranjana Devi, each contributing significantly to her comprehensive understanding and mastery of this intricate art form. Beyond her primary focus on dance, her artistic education extended to music and Nata Sankirtana, which she diligently pursued at the renowned Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy in Imphal. This multifaceted training provided her with a holistic foundation in the traditional performing arts of Manipur, allowing her to integrate various elements into her performances. Throughout her career, Hanglem has graced numerous national stages, showcasing her exceptional talent and unwavering dedication to Manipuri dance. Her notable performances in 2003 included significant appearances at the National Youth Festival in Lucknow, the Sangeet Mahotsav Festival and Seminar held in Guwahati, and the Festival of Manipur in Kolkata. These engagements underscored her growing prominence and artistic reach within the Indian classical dance circuit, bringing the beauty of Manipuri dance to wider audiences. Her significant contributions and artistic excellence in Manipuri dance have garnered national acclaim. In recognition of her remarkable talent and promising future in the art form, Indu Devi Hanglem was awarded the prestigious Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar by the Sangeet Natak Akademi for the year 2009. This esteemed award is a testament to her artistic prowess, dedication, and her potential to further enrich and propagate the Manipuri dance tradition. Additionally, she received a Certificate of Honour from Huyen Lalong, Manipur, Thang Ta Cultural Association, Iribung Imphal East, further solidifying her esteemed position in the cultural landscape of India.
