Ishita Sharma is an Indian actress, Kathak dancer, entrepreneur, and social activist, born on February 8, 1988, in Mumbai, India. She pursued higher education, acquiring a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and English Literature, and later a Master's degree in Human Development. Sharma began her acting career in theatre and television during her school years, appearing in children's shows like "Shaka Laka Boom Boom." Her big screen debut came in 2007 with the English film "Loins of Punjab Presents." She also featured in Hindi films such as "Dil Dosti Etc" and "Dulha Mil Gaya." Additionally, she co-anchored the fourth season of the reality dance show "Dance India Dance." Alongside her acting career, Ishita Sharma maintained a strong connection to performing arts, particularly Kathak. She has a decade of training and experience performing Kathak at various festivals. She identifies renowned teacher and dancer Uma Dogra as her "Guru Maa." In 2014, Sharma established Aamad, her own school for performing arts in Mumbai. Aamad offers training in Kathak, along with other disciplines like Kalaripayattu and T'ai Chi, aiming to foster interest in traditional classical dance forms among youth. Beyond her artistic endeavors, Ishita Sharma is a committed social activist. In 2016, she launched the "Ishita Sharma Foundation," which later became the non-profit organization MukkaMaar in 2018. MukkaMaar focuses on empowering underprivileged girls by providing free self-defense, martial arts, and life skills training. She is married to Indian movie actor Mohit Chadda since 2011.
