Jayan P V, widely known as Jayan Bharathakshetra, is an accomplished Indian classical dancer, musician, choreographer, and teacher. He began his dance career at a young age, studying under Sri Sasi Thiruvallam. He is recognized as an outstanding scholar in various classical Indian dance forms including Mohiniyattam, Keralanadanam, Kathakali, Ottanthullal, Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi, and Odissi, as well as Contemporary dance and Kalaripayattu. Jayan Bharathakshetra received training from numerous eminent teachers, including Padmasree Dr. Guru Gopinath, Sri Nattuvam Paramasiva Menon, Smt. Kalmandalam Kalyani Kutti Amma, Smt. Kalakshethram Vilasini, Sri Keerikkadu Sankarapillai, Sri Thrinath Maharana, Sri Kalamandalam Pathanapuram Biju, Sri Chengarapilli Anujan, Sri Bhaskara Pillai, Sri Chandran, Smt. Daksha Seth, and Smt. Margi Sathi. He is the founder and director of Bharathakshetra, a renowned socio-cultural center in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India, which was established on April 23, 1982, and boasts a legacy of 38 years. Prior to founding Bharathakshetra, he worked as a dance teacher at Noopura Dance Academy for fifteen years and at Sree Chitra Home, a charitable orphanage and cultural institution under the Government of Kerala. Jayan Bharathakshetra served as the Chief Instructor of Indian dances for ten years at Dance Ihayami, UK, where he had the honor of performing in the presence of the British Queen at Westminster Abbey on March 24, 2011. His choreographic works include "Kunchan Nambiar," "Aadhi Kavya Natyanjali," and "Kalachakram." In 2011, he established "Bharatham," a youth wing of Bharathakshetra, which performed at the Common Wealth Youth Dance Festival in the UK in 2014. He teaches students ranging from 3 to 70 years of age and offers free education and fee concessions to talented children from financially disadvantaged backgrounds.
