Jothika Gorur is an Indian-American Bharatanatyam dancer, choreographer, and instructor based out of Pittsburgh, PA, and Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN. She received her foundational training in Bharatanatyam from Smt. Shobhitha Ravi (Natyakriya), under whom she completed her Arangetram (solo debut) in 2017. As of 2024, she continues her training under the direction of award-winning choreographers Ranee, Aparna, and Ashwini Ramaswamy of Ragamala Dance Company, where she is also a company dancer. Gorur has showcased her artistry as a soloist across the United States and on international platforms in Bangalore, India, and Athens, Greece. Her choreographic work has been featured in notable events such as the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre 'Open Air Series' and Silambam Houston's 'YUVA Residency Festival.' In 2023, as a YUVA residency artist, she co-created "AVIKATHITHA," a full-length production exploring stories of women in Indian mythology, with her individual segment "Kaikeyi Atma Sambhasan" receiving praise from author Vaishnavi Patel. Beyond performing and choreographing, Jothika Gorur is an active educator. She has taught workshops for institutions including Desi Dance Convention, AATMA Performing Arts, Dance Conservatory of Pittsburgh, and Origins Championship. She is also an instructor at the Ragamala Training Center for the 2025-26 season. During her undergraduate years, she served as captain and later an advisor for Nrityamala, Pittsburgh's collegiate classical dance team, and co-founded NRITYAPRIYA, a virtual benefit showcase. She has also judged several collegiate competitions.
