Junko Odagiri is a Bharatanatyam dancer born in Tokyo, Japan. She graduated from Tokyo Zokei University of Art and Design with a degree in fine arts. Her initial training in Bharatanatyam took place in Tokyo from 1994 to 2006 under the tutelage of Maciko Lakshmi. In 2005, she conducted a solo performance and workshop in Argentina at CENTRO OKINAWENSE EN LA ARGENTINA (COA) and Fundacion Cultural Argentino Japone. She made her debut performance, known as Arangetram, in Tokyo in 2006. Since 2007, Odagiri has pursued intensive advanced dance training under Guru Shri Smt. Chitra Visweswaran, the esteemed founder of the Chidambaram Academy of Performing Arts (C.A.P.A.). She has performed in Chennai as part of CAPA's production “Nirantara” in both 2012 and 2016. Her solo performances in Tokyo include “-A Timeless Moment which dances in a lotus” (2011) and “Breeze from Dakshina” (2015). Additionally, she has performed solo in India in 2012 and 2016. Odagiri has also participated in various cultural events, including those organized by the Indian embassy of Japan in Tokyo, Japanese Temple Programmes, art festivals, art exhibitions, and collaborative projects with artists across different mediums such as photography, picture, installation, and painting.
